Tracing our ancestry project

We’re working with the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa to identify the portraits of our forefathers and foremothers who had their portraits taken in the 1930s.

This is a 10 week course. Classes start on the 28th April at 11am every Sunday for 1 hour during school term with a mixture of bharatanatyam dance training, breathing exercises and fitness.

Classes open to all ages, gender and ethnicity.

Everyone is welcome to give it a go. You will not be judged and best of all, no previous dance experience required, come and have some fun!

$4 per session or $20 for the term.

All children in attendance receive a learning bag including a new book every week.

All parents in attendance go into the draw to win a weekly $50 Grocery Voucher

Community Learning Hub

STARTS Sunday 5th May to 16 June

6 week workshop

WIA, with support from the Ministry of Education, is proud to host the Indian Community Learning Hub.

The Hub provides opportunities for Indian parents to learn more about education and schools in New Zealand. Some of the topics we are looking at include navigating NCEA and the New Zealand Curriculum, staying safe at school, mental and physical health and wellbeing, and more.

Topics will be covered from across 6 sessions during Term 2 - May and June 2024 and will be presented by facilitators from within Indian community who work as teachers and in other educational roles. Sessions will be proactive so there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and talk openly with our facilitators.

Above all, this is a fantastic opportunity to find out how you can actively be involved in and support your child’s journey through the New Zealand Education System.
